James Schelkun, Co-Owner, President

James “Jim” Schelkun, co-owner of Empire Radiator Service, Tubes N’ Hoses, is a graduate of SUNY Alfred at Wellsville with an associate’s degree in automotive repair. After graduation he worked in an Oldsmobile dealerships before becoming a MATCO Tool distributor. He was with MATCO until 1997 when he and his father purchased Empire Radiator Service. He is factory trained in fluid line manufacturing. He is also factory trained by Active Radiator Supply in charge air cooler recoring and truck and industrial radiators. He received NARSA Heavy Duty Technician Certification in February 2004. Jim is the key when it comes to constructing custom radiators and other pieces. He can make it if you can describe it.

Michael (Mike) Schelkun, Co-Owner, Vice President

Mike is co-owner. He spent nearly 30 years at Kodak involved in new product development, world wide manufacturing coordination, and ISO certification. After leaving Kodak he worked as a tax preparer until purchasing Empire Radiator. Mike is now semi-retired and works with Jim on future growth and long range planning. He takes care of back office duties (checking paperwork and crunching numbers).

Wendy Schelkun, Office Manager

Wendy Schelkun, wife of owner James Schelkun, was born and raised in Pennsylvania. She graduated from Baptist Bible College with a major in counseling. She is our CAD drawing expert and works with customers and suppliers on custom projects. Jim has shown her the ins and outs of our shop work so she is very capable of handling all types of customer inquiries. As office manager she is responsible for accounts receivable, payable and invoicing.

Andrew Schelkun, Technician

Andrew, Jim and Wendy’s son, has been coming to the shop since birth. His initial work was cleanup. After early graduation from high school, taking all the shop and vocational courses available, he now works full time and is quickly learning the business. He is skilled in welding and soldering. He is also well versed in programming and running our Koike ShopPro CNC plasma table.

His experience includes instructing Taekwondo. He has a 2nd degree black belt. Teaching developed his skills working with people. Cars are another major interest, being a died in the wool Ford fan. Working on maintenance and restoration of his 93 Ford F350 Diesel he has developed an in depth knowledge of diesel engines.
